Many British Invasion bands started with cover songs, even when they finally got around to conquering America. The Stones, Herman's Hermits, The Searchers, The Animals, The Hollies. The Beatles, The Kinks, Freddie & The Dreamers,  Dusty Springfield, Gerry and the Pacemakers, and The Honeycombs had their own songs (though in most cases, these were supplied by the A&R guy...)

(Geez...it's been so long since I posted here....I can't remember what I used to call myself!)
