Upcoming Releases
Eric Carmen fans hungry for new music might find themselves somewhat
satiated by not one, but two, new CD releases coming soon. While technically
not "new music," there are certainly recordings here that most fans have
never heard, including unreleased demos that span Eric's career. Those
unreleased songs (along with digitally remastered tracks from old favorites)
will make these two CDs "Must Haves" for every Eric Carmen fan and
collector.
First up, coming in March 2014, is a big label release from Sony. The
Essential Eric Carmen will be a two-disc, 30-track release encompassing Eric
Carmen's career from a newly-signed singer/songwriter into Raspberries and
through a wildly successful solo career that produced hits over a decade
apart. The release may also include a new song or two! Read Eric's comments
on the new release HERE!
Eric started his career with a pair of singles in 1969 for Epic Records as a
member of The Cyrus Erie and The Quic. The "A"-sides of those singles will
be included here on this official release-for the first time EVER-remastered
from the original master tapes. Also included are several hits from Eric's
next group, Raspberries, along with numerous recordings spanning his career
as a solo artist on Arista Records, including Eric's surprise late-'80s hit,
"Hungry Eyes" from the film Dirty Dancing, followed by his solo smash
follow-up, "Make Me Lose Control."
As part of this unprecedented package, Sony will have a number of unique
never-before-released digital downloads that will accompany the release. One
of the titles fans will be able to download will be Eric's original demo for
"Make Me Lose Control," titled "Long Live Rock And Roll." This lush, Eric
Carmen produced demo, has been traded on cassette tape from fan to fan over
the years, but the version included on this CD will be mastered from Eric's
original demo tape.
Also coming right after The Essential Eric Carmen will be a monumental
release of Eric Carmen's earliest studio recording.
Covering the years leading up to the first Raspberries LP, Eric Carmen: The
Early Years will feature tracks written and recorded by Eric when he set
foot into a recording studio for the first time.
This incredible offering will include his released Cyrus Erie and Quick
singles (both "A" and "B" sides) along with his never-before-heard solo
single recorded for Epic Records, but never released to the public. These
two tracks, "I'll Hold Out My Hand" and "It Wont Be the Same Without You"
(like all of the others), will be remastered from the original master tapes.
All that, along with FIVE unreleased Cyrus Erie demos, recorded by Eric
before the Cleveland-based group headed to New York City to record their
first Epic single!
More information (including label and release date) will be coming on this
exciting compilation as details get confirmed. until then, let the drooling
begin!

Eric Carmen managed the Wondermints? At what point?

Okay, I will try to post again to this list, although I am pretty sure my
message will be delayed yet again, because my e-mail header is too long.
Frustration, because I'd like to react more often.

Anyway,

check out this band, whose debut album will come out in February of next
year.

http://templestheband.com/music

It's a (psych) mix of Sixties, Seventies, Eighties and Nineties, and bands
like Beatles, The Byrds, T-Rex and many others.

And then there's word of some new Eric Carmen material going to be released
some time soon.

This weekend Eric is in LA, recording with Wondermints, a band he once
managed.

Best,

Patrick Beckers
