Thanks Gene! It took me a bit to get used to the more psychedelic material on the new Hawley, but it really grew on me. Some have said it cuts against his vocal style, but I find it to be a really interesting blend, and there are still some songs that are more in his regular style.

The lead singer of Django Django is related to one of the members of Beta Band, which is certainly a comparison point.

Michael Kiwanuka sounds like he stepped out of 1972 -- soul with some jazz and pop overtones, that reminds me a bit of Bill Withers at times. My wife and I saw him in Philly a few weeks ago and it was pretty magical. The album is already available for download in the States with a physical version coming out some time this month.

So glad to see something positive about the Richard Hawley. I have seen some negative reviews. "Too heavy" for him I just read recently. I've had my eye on Django Django . Remember the days of jumping on the Orange Juice bandwagon. This group seems to have that kind of buzz. So what's up with Michael Kiwanuka ? Haven't heard much about him. Just saw him on Letterman and he seemed cool.
