At it's root, PONPONPON (1,030,000 google hits as of right now)is a
fine, even fantastic pop song. The backing tracking stands alone, and I
expect will be heavily reused. The translated lyrics are witty in a
youthful manner (yes, I know, beware, tho numerous sources are close
enough).

Excellent thoughts for our youth, wouldn't you agree? I bet Todd
Rundgren would approve, at least the 70s-80s edition.
The original vid on youtube is approaching 4 million views, and there's
now over 500 variations & growing, mostly girls dancing the Pon Pon Pon
Wei Wei (257,000 google hits) in their bedroom, yard, subway station &
captured on cell phones, There are also several recent nifty covers/remixes.
I would love to see this become the Japanese "Hit Me With Your Rhythm
Stick" world-wide hit.. We'll see as it's really just catching on. I
figure an english language copy cannot be far away. Tho I could be
completely wrong.
Remember folks, pop music is for kids. We're just lucky to be along for
the ride.
