via a blog* I found out that the engineer/producer Martin Rushent had
passed away.
His close association with The Buzzcocks, The Stranglers and Generation
X was enough to forever endear me to his work, but let me add some
engineering jobs: Fleetwood Mac's "Future Games" & Riff Raff's "Original
Man", several Shirley Bassey lps, and a few more productions: (Ian)
"Gomm with the Wind" & "Summer Holiday" , Jean-Jaques Burnel's "Euroman
Cometh", The dB's "Stand for Decibels", Pele Shelley's "Homosapian" &
"XL1". His biggest payday must have been Human League's "Dare", in long
term earnings, production accolades and future pro$pect$.
My favorite studio sound from any era is the UK studio output as a whole
from 77-81, and Mr Rushent had a strong hand in creating and solidifying
that sound. Cheers to to you, Martin. [R]ock [I]n [P]erpetuity!
