My friends Seth and Mike have done it again, the new Red Button album, As Far As Yesterday Goes, is simply brilliant! I detect a slightly more mature approach than the first one, but it just as good if not better. Songs like Genevieve, She Grows Where She's Planted and On A Summer Day are pure melodic genius, but ALL the songs are fantastic. They still have the Beatles influences coming through, but I also hear more sophisticated arrangements not unlike Wondermints, Jason Falkner, etc. I had to check the credits to see if George Martin possibly guest produced this record, it's that good! The strings are absolutely gorgeous, and all the playing and singing are spectacular. This is most definitely the best album I've heard this year...it's going to be very difficult for anyone to top it.
