Thank you Mike and Mike (not to be confused with the ESPN guys). I will search the information you both sent!

I somehow missed that you had these links on your power pop blog. Thanks for clueing me in! Nice!

I'm happy to answer (and with excess). I have been thinking about it for a long time since and primarily per the price increase. Yes, I know there are still deals to be found at a reduced rate and I know other's mileage may vary from mine.
The secondary issue and a big one is really not about emusic. That despite loving to find new music treasures I am also by nature a bit practical. I am finding that I have tons of great music already that I just don't have time to listen to. This is an ongoing struggle with the music fiend I guess. :) I noted recently having some downloads from emusic from say 6 months ago and I've not even given the "album" a full play from start to finish. That just seems kind of silly. So, by leaving emusic I'll buy less new music but I hope to spend even more wisely.
Not the reason for leaving but the tipping point for me was in learning that you can no longer download something a second time at no cost. I'm guessing this has been in place since the new pricing occurred but I missed it. I missed this policy change per it's not something I normally have a reason to do… That is until my computer crashed a while back and I lost some of my music from emusic (thankfully, yes, over the years I had sent a lot to an external hard drive). Anyway, when I tried to reload these lost tracks on my new computer I learned that I would have to purchase them again. Yes, I know emusic indicates they must do it per fear of people downloading and giving away the tracks but for me the thought of having to repurchase these tracks doesn't make sense. To emusic's credit they did send me an extra month of downloading to appease my concern over this and I honestly appreciate that (although, it certainly didn't cover all that I lost). The tone of their doing this now per the benefit of the artist just rings a bit false to me (fair or not that is my impression). This wasn't their policy when it was the smaller labels they primarily contracted with but now they want to protect the artist as they have contracts with the larger labels who must be able to dictate this. It just seems like as often is the case to me…getting bigger does not equal getting better. If someone has a different insight into this I'd love to hear it. I'm open to hearing I'm wrong. But, either way, I'm ending my run with emusic per the prior mentioned reasons.

Anyway, this is just my long answer to a simple question. I really don't have major issues with emusic and I don't want this to sound like I do. I've appreciated the good music over the years. It's just time for me to step off the bus.

Thanks again
Steve D
