I saw The Biters and The Booze Friday before last in a small club here in Portland. Both were so loud that I could barely tell someone was even singing. The Biters’ singer kinda looks like Steve Marriott did in his prime. I was there mostly for The Booze…bought their new cd, which is a bit more rock than their first 3…not unlike the move the Stones made back in about 1965.

The Biters from Atlanta? http://www.myspace.com/thebiters
Their first 2 outings were really poppy, kinda Punk/early Cheap Trick-ish. Well written songs with the sole critique being they use the word "baby" profusely. No really.... 30 percent of the albums lyrics end or begin with "Baby". Could be used in a drinking game...but I digress.

Their newest album is nothing like their former works. It's kinda like a watered down Thin Lizzy.
And, though I LOVE Thin Lizzy, well, they ditched all the power pop and it just don't grab me like the ep and first Lp. As per anything anywhere ever:Your milage may vary.

They remind me of The Exploding Hearts with even a more poppy directness.
