Put me into the old fogey category. I still like selecting an album
and putting it on (be it CD or LP).
I know times have changed for many (most), so I don't mind going out of
my way get a physical
copy...though I find burning my own copy of an album a vastly inferior
experience. It was a little
more work to get a physical copy of the Jones/Rotenberry album but
worth it.
So, yes, for the right artist I'd pre-fund. Actually, I have done so
for The Spongetones' "Scrambled Eggs."
Would I do so for a new Eugene Edwards album? Yes. Excuse me...I meant
HELL yes. Particularly,
if the releases would otherwise be very intermittent. I've seen
artists use Facebook pretty effectively
in these efforts.

This is pretty interesting!
AND, it ties into my question, which may have become buried in my last
lengthy
post.
Music buyers among you, would you prefer the artist to release
individual
downloadable tracks through iTunes in this manner? Knowing Gene as well
as I do,
unless someone else is organizing this, I can tell you the songs will
be out in
a very sporadic manner. He's a pretty busy guy AND he's a
perfectionist AND he
doesn't have a home studio, so any mastering would be done outside and
at some
expense.
Or would you prefer a full release, available in physical format AND
digital?
And if you prefer the physical format/digital option, would you be
willing to
pre-fund using a sytem such as Kickstarter?
AND, if you WERE willing to pre-fund, how quickly would you expect the
physical
format product to be in your hands?
and BTW! This is not a debate of download vs. physical format. It's
just a
poll.
