Hello fellow Auditeers!
If you're in L.A. this Thursday evening, Scott Miller and I are doing a
co-book launch at Largo. I've pasted in the press release below but I'll
just tell you that, to celebrate the release of my Todd Rundgren book and
Scott's Music: What Happened , we've assembled a big revue with lots of cool
musicians playing songs that were either written or produced by Todd
Rundgren. In addition to my band The Paul & John (w guest drummer DJ
Bonebrake of X) and Scott Miller (Game Theory, Loud Family) we have host
Dave Foley (Kids In The Hall) and a ton of musical guests including members
of Rooney, Mike Viola (Candy Butchers), Lyle Workman (star guitarist,
producer and soundtrack composer), The Chapin Sisters, and *uncredited* but
promised appearances from cool Largo types. Can't name them here.
If you can't make it to this (and I feel bad if you can't) then can you
please tell your L.A. pop friends about it and tell them that while the club
won't go any lower than $25 a ticket, (I tried) - *Say "WIZ" at the door you
get a free guest, 2 for 1 basically, with Password.

I'd really like to see more pre-sales, even though I know most people plan
to walk-up. Don't be let down if it's sold out at the door.

to celebrate the publication of Miller's book *Music: What Happened? *and
Myers's *A Wizard A True Star: Todd Rundgren In The Studio. * Hosted by *Dave
Foley* (*Kids In The Hall*, *Newsradio*)
*Thursday Mar 24, 8pm (Doors at 7pm) $25. *
*Scott Miller* (Loud Family) is launching *Music: What Happened?* (125
Books) a song-by-song critical essay and paean to some of his favorite songs
from the last 53 years of popular music. Scott will tell stories and read
selections as well as perform choice songs from his work.
*Paul Myers* has just released *A Wizard A True Star: Todd Rundgren In The
Studio *(Jawbone Press), which chronicles the entire production career of
Todd Rundgren, with new interviews from the man himself and every one of his
celebrated clients from Patti Smith, Badfinger and the New York Dolls to XTC
and Meat Loaf. Invited musical artists will sing a selection of Rundgren
songs in tribute.
*Copies of both books will be on hand for sale and signing by their
respective authors.*
Additionally, Miller and Myers will be joined by SF musician John Moremen,
and an ace cast of L.A. musical guests including *DJ Bonebrake* (X), and a
rotating backing unit lead by *Rooney* guitarist *Taylor Locke*, Rooney's *
Ned* *Brower* and *Louie* *Stevens*, plus *Chris* *Price* (The Roughs), *
Mike* *Viola* (Candy Butchers), soundtrack composer *Lyle* *Workman*, *The
Chapin Sisters*, and a few *secret* *surprise "Largo regular" guests.*
