I would just go on Google and just see what you find. I go down each year for
Jazzfest and like to poke around in the little shops down by Frenchmans St
Louisiana Music Factory on Decatur is a treasure
Not sure you'll find any big-box stores, plus NOLA is not known as a hard rock
hotbed, ya know?

a friend has a relative visiting New Orleans on a business trip. he gave him a
list of cd's to look for - mostly hard rock / classic rock, in print stuff - and
he looks for some place easy to find, central. like old style chains, that I
know, are becoming rare. any suggestions are welcome. thanks!
