Ron, it's actually kind of boring. Back at the beginning of the audities
mailing list there was an initial tape tree designed in the SOTT format that
was capped at 25 participants. I spoke too late to join that tree, but
there were about 10 of us who were too late and 2 or 3 others that wanted to
participate in a second tree. So I ran the second tree called Son of Tape
Tree (SOTT). The original tape tree died after one round and SOTT became
just SOTT and took on a life of its own though a less frequent life over the
past few years. But here we are on the 23rd round of SOTT, which moved from
tapes to CDs over the 8th to 11th round. There have been some requests to
make it digital, but that is a bit too far removed from the original
concept. Hopefully someone will organize a digital tree. But SOTT will
stay hard copy at least for now.

BTW, for those who might be considering SOTT, there is one change from my
original email. Based upon some emails with some regular participants and
given their schedules, the due date will be April 1st not March 1st.

Bill
