I felt the same way as you and if I hadn;t seen some of these songs come 
alive in concert, I would have traded the disc in for something else. I 
dislike the concept of having to listen to an album ten or twenty times before be 
able to "get" it, but this album was the perfect example of that for me.

Forgot about this album. I have liked Johnson;s stuff since he did the 
soundtrack for Curious George, which had some great songs on it. Very simplstic, 
bare-bones but very well thought out songwriting, like a folkier Tom Petty 
at the top of his game
