Not necessarily state-centric...I reckon somebody's already mentioned Johnny
Cash's "I've Been Everywhere"
And...
"Cruisin Music" Raspberries (actually prefer Rubinoos' version)
"California" The Babys
"America" Simon & Garfunkel
"New England" and "Road Runner" Jonathan Richman / Modern Lovers
"I Love LA" Randy Newman
"Bowling Green" (Kentucky) Everly Brothers
And one to get you going before your trip:
"London's A Lonely Town" Dave Edmunds

Subject: Fifty States
Morning/Afternoon/Evening [delete as applicable] all.
In Mar/Apr of next year i'll be driving across America (
http://mattwhitby.net/Content/USRoadTrip/Default.aspx?page=about) and i'd
like to make a bunch of compilation CDs for the car.
I was thinking it would be fun to make an album of songs for each State in
the US (even though, of course, I won't visit each one).
I'm thinking of stuff like;
"The night they drove old Dixie down" by The Band -- Tennessee
"I won't go Hollywood" by Bleu -- California
"Rambling on My Mind" by Robert Johnson -- Mississippi
Any suggestions?
etc.
