My off-kilter fave is "Rockaway Beach," by Joey Ramone & General Johnson. We played that and The Chairmen of the Board's "(You've Got Me) Dangling On String" on this week's radio show.

He was also the lead singer of The Showmen, who were big in the 60s regional beach music scene around the Carolinas, Virginia & Georgia. I have fond memories of the Showman at a couple of show-&-dances, which were more common than "concerts" at the time - & more fun.

Besides the hit everyone knows them for, my favorite Chairman of the Board cut is called Finders Keepers, from the early 70s. General Johnson also wrote the Clarence Carter hit "Patches".
