Pretty much out of nowhere, Ultimate Fakebook has released a new album called "Daydream Radio Is Smiling Static." You can download it for free here: http://www.ufbrocks.com/ .
The album consists of songs--including a Guided By Voices cover--recorded but never released before the band called it quits in 2004. They have played a handful of reunion shows since the end of 2008 and led up to this release with teases on Facebook.
I was very sad when they split up and am hopeful that they will continue to be at least sporadically active in years to come. Recommended for fans of Cheap Trick, GBV, the Replacements, Weezer, and bands who put the "power" in power pop.
