By twin cities, you mean Minnesota? I may be wrong (trying to remember power pop past) but does Dan Sarka of Stingray Green live nearby?
Great choice on the Spongetones, though. Sorry it didn't work out. Living in Charlotte where they often play out in clubs, I am spoiled. Get to see them at least a few times a year.

Let me start by saying to all those folks on here who have a hand in setting
p various pop festivals... For the love of all thats holy how in the world do
ou do it?!?!??!??!????
Once upon a time I had a simple plan. I was gonna throw myself a party. Hire
couple of bands I love, invite a messof people I at least liked, buy a keg of
ood beer, something edible.... simple, right?
Right off the bat let me make one thing clear... in the following I am NOT
itching about the bands/people involved in any way, shape or form. I'm using
he names because it makes this more interesting to read for Audities types,
hat is all.
Version One of my bash was to take place on Labor Day weekend. My birthday is
n early September so this made sense. The lineup I wanted was Splitsville and
he Lackloves. Emails were sent. The Lackloves said "Sure. Sounds like fun."
plitsville said.... "Hmmm...we gotta run it by the wives." Fair enough. Turns
ut the wives nixed the idea because of a family tradition of Labor Day
acation. Its too bad....but its a big pop world out there.
Version Two of the bash was also on Labor Day and would have featured The
ackloves and The Spongetones! I contacted Jamie Hoover and the lads and, while
t was a bit pricier to bring them out I could swing it (just.) The day after
hey said they could do it I found out my full time job was being downsized to
alf-time, and what was doable became totally unworkable short of selling a
idney. Crap.
Version Three of the bash was moved to the middle of August because 1) I had
ime to move it, and 2) Maybe I could get Splitsville on the new date! Emails
ere sent and received and YES! They could do it. However, something happened
ver the next couple of weeks because Splitsville had to back out. I guess the
uys aren't enjoying playing with one another anymore. That REALLY sucks
ecause I love Splitsville. Them not being able to play my party is one thing.
hem ceasing to exist is downright depressing.
Version Four of the bash...also mid August gets a new headliner. Webb Wilder,
he last of the full grown men, is booked to do a duo acoustic show.
allelujah! Now all that was left was to confirm that The Lackloves could make
he new August date...which I just discovered they cannot because of, lets just
ay a previous engagement.
Well...shit. Here I am about a month out from the party, and I'd still like
o have a band open up the show.
Here is where I'm hoping the Audities list can help. Does anyone know of a
win Cities power pop band that might fit the bill? I'm so hopelessly out of
ouch with the local music scene. (yes, I've been THAT busy... why do you think
'm throwing this party????) Any auditeers help will certainly be rewarded with
nvites to the bash, which WILL be a great time.
Thanks folks,
Rich Horton
