Just a few java influenced thoughts today.
"Breaking Bad" is really good. I don't have cable, so after "Lost" ended it's hold over me, I needed a new fix. What a great ride. Only 4 episodes in and I am hooked. Can't even imagine where it's headed .In a way it is the perfect post "Lost" show . It is also about destiny and the choices one must make in life.
As for "Lost" I still am in awe of the finale. The more I think about it [which is a lot] the more I respect it. I know a lot of fans were disappointed , but I can't imagine where they thought it was heading. Yes, they strung us along a bit with the flash sideways, but they couldn't give it all away. And when it started to take shape, it was thrilling to watch. "Lost" gave deep thinkers something enlightening. It was tv at it'd finest.
Watching those old Hitchcock films always is a trip. He had a way of filming women that was a revelation. The way they were lit, they way the camera loved them was all Hitch. Just saw Vera Miles in "The Wrong Man" . A perfect illustration of what I just wrote. And of course there is always Grace Kelly. You can just think of the "master" gazing at them through the camera. He was the man who loved women.
It is a guilty pleasure at best, but I have found all 3 of the "Twilight" films worth seeing. Not "Buffy" but it's not supposed to be. It is a very sad story . Each film has been better than the previous one. So the last should be the best. And just so you know , I am Team Edward. Who doesn't enjoy a little glisten .
Great way to start the day is to listen to the mournful sounds of Cesaria Evoria. Just finished "Cafe Atlantico", and it was beautiful.
It is summer, so time to play all the Beach Boys albums. Can't go wrong with the 2 cd set "Today / Summer days[and summer nights] "." Please let me wonder" is one of my faves.
Still loving the new Joanna Newsom, the Roots, The Living Sisters [big Eleni Mandell fan],and the Broken Social Scene. Need to listen to the new Rufus Wainwright more to get it.
A wonderful cd to groove to is Talulah Gosh "Backwash" on K records. My favorite track is "Bringing up baby" What a rush!

Time to go to the Bleeding Heart bakery in search of a Sunday morning muffin.

Rock on!

Gene
