Sort of, and no.
Even the earliest interviews in the late 70's often mentioned his faith.
He described himself sometimes (paraphrasing) as a christian musician but
not a "christian musician."
By the mid-80's it became more obvious in the music, though I suppose "I'm
supposed to have sex with you/let's have the sex now" won't get played in
many church services.
