Agreeing with Joe here, but even more emphatically...absolutely, positively
anything by PFR. I personally like the albums "Them" and "Goldie's Last
Day" the most, but "Great Lengths" and "Disappear" are also top notch.
Their Jellyfish-ness cannot be overstated.
The early albums of King's X are considered Christian to some extent. Hard
but melodic, brusing but Beatlesque. Try "Gretchen Goes To Nebraska",
"Dogman" and "Ear Candy" and be amazed. Wow! Doug Pinnick's lead vocals
and their three-part harmonies are jaw-dropping. They jam severely as
well.
"The Blue Sky Secret" released an EP a couple of years ago called "What We
Are" that was hummable from start to finish.
Ty Tabor (King's X guitarist and primary songwriter) has had some terrific
solo efforts. Primarily "Rock Garden" and "Moonflower Lane". Also, he had
a one album side project with a band name of "Jughead". Catch that
self-titled CD if you can.
I've always liked a number of songs from a band named "Believable Picnic".
They had a self-titled and another release called "Welcome to the Future"
that I enjoyed quite a bit. They are PFR-ish.
Back on the super melodic hard stuff, I cannot recommend anything any more
than "At the End of the Day" and "Let It Go", the last two albums by
Galactic Cowboys. Now if you don't like harder edged, metal-laced power
pop, you probably won't like this too much. The same could be said for
King's X, but my hook-addicted ears love it all.
Rick Altizer's "Scripture Memory - Pop Symphonies" is catchy, poppy, pretty
music.
Happy hunting!Whit

Daniel Amos - Shotgun Angel, Horrendous Disc, Motorcycle, ANY of the
!Alarma! Chronicles, but Alarma, Doppleganger and Vox Humana are amazing.
PFR - buy them all or just get the greatest hits.
Phil Keaggy - Sunday's Child has already been mentioned, but it's not my
fave(gasp from the auditiers),
"Love Broke Thru", "Emerging"(remastered as "Re-Emerging"), "Find Me In
These Fields", and "Crimson and Blue"(or just "Blue" in the secular
market).
Matthew Ward - To'Ward Eternity(Featuring Phil Keaggy on guitar.)
Allies - The River, Long Way From Paradise, Man With a Mission(Bob
Carlisle, the Butterfly Kisses guy was the singer and Good Lord did he rock
in this band.
Hope that helps.
