I've been meaning to post about a record I fell in love with last year
by a Norwegian cohort of Sondre Lerche - Julian Berntzen - which was
issued in 2008 (his 3rd) called "Rocket Ship Love". Pure pop in its most
essant form, not distinctly unlike the purveyors herein and discusssed
herein, but composed and presented in a most perfect manner. I could go
on & on but rather than dance about architecture I'll point to some sounds:
The song Rocket Ship Love: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUdOZpFVRDw
LaLa's copy of the album: http://www.lala.com/#album/432627039263988989
Please especially check out the song "Ballroom Universe".
Unfortunately the hardcopy cd is already out-of-print (almost
immediately rumor has it). But digital versions are available from
Amazon & iTunes. Extremely highly recommended - best record I've heard
since The Junipers, tho it's a contemporary issue-date wise. But don't
take my word for it, go hear for yourself.
As I hinted, he has two earlier releases which are both very good but
"Rocket Ship Love" is insanely great pop.

It's a bit difficult to find much about Mr Berntzen. Trained in violin &
piano, he considers himself a writer & arranger, which explains alot (in
a good way), he appeared @SxSW '10 & is writing a musical.
