I'd hope that if I had created great art and was independently wealthy that
I would not license it for use without enough creative
control/impact/authority to be satisfied that I was happy with the
association. For example, if my theme song was used for The Shield or
Homicide, shows I respect and enjoy, I'd have no issue whatsoever. If some
crap reality show (oops - redundant) wanted to use it I would refuse. That
said, if I were living week-to-week like many artists do, and someone wanted
to pay me a boatload of money so that my song would be the "Gossip Girl"
theme, maybe that money enables me to be more choosy in the future.

I'm numb to what artists do commercially at this point. I just want to enjoy
their music/acting/comedy on its own merits.

Someone brought up the point that Pete might have signed on for a tour or
two
because it would help make a boatload of cash for Entwistle (who is
obviously not pulling in the songwriting royalties that Pete is). My own
initial desire for The Faces not to tour and possibly ruin the legacy took a
big swing in the opposite direction when I was told that just *one* tour
would have set up Lane and McLagan financially for the rest of their lives
(Woody and Jones are very wealthy men)...and at the time Lane had staggering
medical bills. But you-know-who kept bailing on the other four - still does.
