Maybe it's just the toneless quality of email, but this comment strikes me
as a needlessly snarky response to Craig's announcement.  Being an
intellectual is not required to enjoy Salinger's writing, and never has
been.

Drew,
who went to college with Salinger's daughter Meg and once passed up an
opportunity to meet her famously reclusive father. (Instead, I chose to
party with a group including Geena Davis, who was also a fellow student.
Seems like a bad call now, but go watch Geena in "Tootsie," then think about
how your decision-making process worked at age 19. I believe you will
understand.)
