Was not aware until this article about the source material but last night Jimmy Fallon opened his show with this stunning Neil Young take. I watched it several times and the song stayed with me. All the time I was wondering where this song came from. This article discloses that it was from the night before on American Idol. Scroll down to see the original by a guy called "The General".Pretty amazing.
Fallon recently did the same setup as Neil doing the theme song from "The Fresh prince of Bel Air". That too was wonderful.
I will say this about Jimmy Fallon. Every once in a while he shows what a true talent he is. It is worth checking his show out for those revealing moments. I do believe he did Neil Young on SNL as well.The guy has some talent.
Watch this a couple times and see if that damn song doesn't stay with you. I don't watch American Idol, but I guess there is a buzz about this song.But it is Fallon's[Neil's] version I love.
