I'm not sure I can come up with a top 20/25 for the year. I'm pretty sure
I listened to as much new music as in past years, but just didn't find that
many things that I could anticipate wanting to listen to again a year or
two down the road.
#1 Marianas Trench - Masterpiece Theatre - no contest, not even close,
runaway, however else you can phrase that. I cannot believe this is
missing from every other list I've seen so far. I've seen plenty of Josh
Fix and Bryan Scary, and this is one of those with balls, really big ones.
Their earlier releases didn't do anything special for me, but this one gets
listened to at least every other day, by either me or one of my kids.
#'s 2-X:
Dashboard Confessional - Alter The Ending - another band that never caught
my ear before. Love the new one though.
A Rocket To The Moon - On Your Side - damn, what a difference. He/they
dropped the cheesy casiotone sound for a full band and some killer pop
tunes.
Hedley - The Show Must Go - sounds like the much anticipated follow up to
the American Hi-Fi CD of 2004 (whatever happened to that band?)
Nil By Mouth - Greatest Days - who? go download it free:

James McKenna - I Am - Other than Marianas Trench, the one so far in my
list that would appeal to the most auditeers
The Leftovers - Eager To Please
The Beat Seekers - Dead Air Radio
Throwback Suburbia - s/t
EPs:
Brittle - Chinese Whispers
Who Needs Fashion - The Best Idea Ever
Jeff Morris - Far Away
The ones I was really excited to hear but just got a big old Blah:
Falkner, Benson, Emmett, Shazam, Klug
Scott Pazur
Merry and Happy to all!
