And - his brother was Ian Nelson, of Fiat Lux (one of my favorite bands).

Well, actually not close enough. Two different releases. "After the
Satellite Sings" was released in 1996 and was one of Nelson's last releases
to get worldwide distribution, which is why it is easily found on Amazon,
etc. It's song oriented, but not one of my faves.

"Satellite Songs" was released in 2004 and saw limited distribution in Great
Britan and by mail order through his partnership with Sound on Sound
magazine in GB. In my mind, a much more "Be Bop" type of album.

But hey, it's easy to lose track. By my count, Nelson has released 23 CD's
in the last 9 years...including 2 this past summer, and 2 this past week at
his annual "Nelsonic" fan convention. Sure, that's a Robert Pollard level
of self indulgence, and given the high import pricing, it's hard to keep up.
The majority of his releases this decade have been "song oriented" versus
the ambient type guitar stuff he was doing in the late 80's and 90's.
There's a few guitar instrumental albums in the mix, but you also get cool
titles like "Wah Wah Galaxy", and "The Romance of Sustain - Vol 1. Painting
with Guitars". Romance contains the classic track, "For Stuart", written in
memory of his friend Stuart Adamson of Big County. Bill pulls out every BBD
guitar trick in the book in about 4 minutes.

Absolutely my favorite guitarist of all time.

Greg
