I agree... but I have to say that the intensity during a complex mix gets to be stressful and
after a while I have to walk away for a bit (sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes a whole day) because I lose my perspective and my ears play tricks on me... 
 
I'm in the middle of mixing my new CD right now and I've found I'm only good for 3-4 hours then my brain turns to putty  lol

Having attended both, my explanation is this: mixing sessions are way more fun than mastering sessions.
