I think I'm going through the same "post aquisition syndrome" that you're describing.

I had to go on a trip today, and heard the album twice more as I traveled. And another thing that occurred to me too is that it's been a long time since the Shazam released a new album - maybe 2002 or 2003? - and "Meteor", while I'll now say it's a good album, just doesn't sound as good as you would expect after six or seven years in the making. And who knows, maybe they didn't devote that much time to the album, maybe they vacationed for a good long while?

Getting more familiar with it today, it also kind of reminded me of a Paul McCartney album, in that the tunes are there on every song, but some of the lyrics just seem to just be filling up melody space rather than telling stories, or speaking to emotions. But thinking back, they have "Rock And Roll With My Rock And Roll Rock N Rollers", and "Chipper Cherry Daylillies" in their back catalogue, so they've always done that to a degree anyhow.

Right now, I'll say "Meteor" is a good album that I could even imagine rating somewhere in my year end Top 25. It's just that it's not as 'blockbuster' as you might imagine, given the amount of time that they took between albums (and theoretically making this album).
