There was a cool article in the NY Times about the preparation and launch of the Beatles - Rock Band edition. I'm not a gamer but it's very interesting. The reality is that they had to "dial back" the complexity of the playingand provide extra cache just because of the subject; because gamers who play other versions of the game are used to Metallica-style leads etc it will remain to be see how they adapt to and appreciate this version.
I especially liked the description of how Yoko told the developers that they were concentrating too much on the technology and had failed to capture the correct "look in John's eyes" and the how his character needs to "own the room"....
