Well, many new LPs these days are packaged with download codes that
let you download the tracks (usually as a zipfile of VBR mp3s) off a
website. Otherwise, I have an Ion turntable sitting on the edge of my
desk here in the office, plugged into my soundcard. I use a very old
copy of Cool Edit Pro to record and clean up the mp3s. I don't find
it that tedious, because I can do it in the background while I'm
writing or answering email or catching up on my blogs or whatever. In
fact, right now, I'm listening to/recording side three of THE ART OF
THE MODERN JAZZ QUARTET.
