If we're talking an artist whose albums impacted me as they were putting
them out, then I'd have to say Morrissey. If we're talking about artists
whose albums impacted me as I discovered them, then the Beatles were my
Beatles, in that they were the wellspring from which my subsequent obsession
with music flowed. If my next-door neighbor hadn't given me the "20 Greatest
Hits" album as a present one year, I don't know WHERE I'd be today.
