On the subject of power-pop: I saw The New Beat with Paul Collins at The Star Bar in Atlanta in a smaller venue that just made it
feel super personal. What a singer?!?! Did some songs of Ribbons of Gold and a couple surprises.
His voice rocked all night. He's not a spring chicken, but he made it look easy. Nice to see a bunch of younger folk out gettin' their power-pop on.
Young bunch of guys in the band...maybe a bit green but definitely into it. What a fun show. I was barely on the ground while he played "Hanging on the Telephone". Holy Crap- The Nerves!
