Haven't read all the posts, so I'm not sure anyone mentioned this.....
For the record...
McCartney has appeared on talk shows before. In fact, three times
before Letterman.
Once in 1968 with John on the Tonight Show with Joe Garagiola guest
hosting;
In the 1980's he did the Tonight Show again to promote the "Give My
Regards To
Broad Street" movie just hours before attending the L.A. premiere (I
went to it)....
&
a few years ago he appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, on which
his then wife Heather Mills joined him for the last segment.
So the Letterman appearance made it his 4th late night talk show.
And if you count being on Ellen DeGeneres last year, and The View this
past January '09,
that would make 6 altogether.
