From the subject line, I thought for a moment that Rhett Miller was the problem with this list. And I know that isn't right! ;-)

I enjoy the shilling of bands, as Jennifer says... I'll admit I don't contribute much to this list, but the widely varied suggestions that I take away from it are a big part of why I read every day. It's surprising to me, even though I am a music writer and voracious pop fan, how much music would slip by criminally unnoticed were it not for the people on this list.

Incidentally, I have "Constellation," though not on Jennifer's recommendation (Faris Nourallah is an acquaintance, so I started paying attention to both brothers), and I'd also love to see more people get into it.

And now I must return to my impatient wait for the review copy of the new Cheap Trick that seems to be traveling here by terrapin (another thing this list does is heighten anticipation for the music I'm awaiting!).

Christel

Do you remember, do you remember?
She carried you down to the edge of the dark river
and said though the water is wide you will never grow tired.
You are bound to your life like a mother and child
you will cling to your life like a succoring vine, like the rest of your kind.
You will increase and increase…past all of our dreaming

I know that I'm guilty of shilling/plugging bands and shows. I wish I was more articulate with expressing my musical opinions online but I guess I'm too much of a coward sometimes ;-). I haven't received any angry replies so maybe I shouldn't be so paranoid...lol. I'm on Facebook so if you've liked any of my past picks, feel free to contact me there.

It was nice to see another person here pick up and enjoy Salim Nourallah's "Constellation" release. RIYL : Neil Finn, Elliott Smith, Jeff Tweedy.

I haven't picked up Rhett Miller's new record but it's definitely on my list of things to buy. I saw Rhett play an acoustic set in Austin a few months ago and it was quite a treat. A new friend of mine, Cindy Royal, is a big fan and she was able to snag an interview with him while visiting NYC late last month. She uploaded the interview and performance on her music blog, On That Note. You can watch it here : http://cindyroyal.blogspot.com/2009/06/rhett-miller-interview-sessions-at-otn.html
