For example, I think about bands like Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, the
Gaslight Anthem, The Clientele, The Fray, and I could go on for the rest
of the day. I know there are people here who like these acts, but they
never come up in conversation, I suppose, because they aren't "Audities
bands."

If we're seeing a terminal fade where traditional "power pop" is
concerned, then maybe this is a good time to talk about making the list
a bigger thing.

Or not. I don't know. Just something I've been thinking about.

To me this list was always about "insanely great pop music" with power pop simply being the genre that got more attention then other forms of music. I've been here a long time too (93-94?). I recall early on asking for help related to the definitive standards of various songs from the 30's and 40's (for a present to my In-law's for their 50th wedding anniversary). At that time, I apologized for it's not being the type of music we normally discuss. I got a lot of help with my request. But also several posts about how these songs were indeed pop and not off topic to this list at all. My point being as insular as this list might seem, to me it really hasn't been. At it's best it's been a great place to discuss music and it seems when the conversation went wider then pop that was ok too.

FWIW: There have been a few discussions on The Clientele, I believe The Killers and many discussion of Franz Ferdiand back when they first recorded. Just ask Jeff Shelton if you don't believe me. ;)

The list will probably never have the life it once did. That's a shame but that's life I guess. Maybe moving it to Facebook is the jumpstart it needs? I wonder if that would cripple this list even more? Not saying that's a reason not to do it. Like Gene I've been avoiding joining Facebook.

Drew if your cupboard is bare then mines missing it's shelves. :)
