Probably most people here don't know who Gale Storm was, and neither did
I, until I recently watched the movie "It Happened on 5th Ave", where
she was a very young actress. That led me to read her autobiography. I
would highly recommend it. She could have been much more well known as
a singer, if not for the fact that her husband was not happy with her
spending a lot of time away from home traveling to do the recordings. I
think he was also jealous of her spending a lot of time with the
producer of her music. She is had a strong religious upbringing, so I
think she decided to stop recording for the sake of the marriage. She
became an alcoholic much later in her life, and she doesn't hold back on
what that was like, and trying to hide it from her family, and how hard
it was for her to kick the habit.
As an aside, if you think Michael Jackson had a problem with drugs and
being weird, you should read the biography on Oscar Levant.
