Hi Auditeers...
Sorry for the shameless self promotion, but as you're all my target
audience, i hope you won't mind...
I have a new album, "Redemption #39" that's just coming out now. It's my
first album of totally new original material since 2004's "Rolling Ball",
and is once again a solo project. (The Cuban Heels project from last year
should be done before the end of the year as well.) I'm particularly proud
of this record, and consider it my best work so far. I've tried to be pretty
uncompromising with it, sonically and 'artistically'. And it seems to
combine a lot of the stuff you will have heard from me in the past.. with
the powerpop, and the harmonies, and the jangle and a little of the
alt.country. A bit of Beatles, a bit of Queen, a bit of the Hollies, a bit
of the Who, a few attempts at Jellyfish, and more backwards guitar solos
than i originally expected...
It's available now from my Big Radio site at www.bigradio.com.au as a paid
download or on CD (with a download option so you can get it straight away
and don't have to wait for it to get there from Australia.). It'll be
available any day from Not Lame and Kool Kat, and a few select stores. It's
also coming out in Spain on Rock Indiana Records in the next few weeks. Not
Lame and Kool Kat have a VERY limited bonus disk version available. The
bonus disk is "The Stripped Redemption #39". It's basically the whole album
with just one main rhythm instrument, and all the multi-layers of backing
vocals exposed. I only had 100 of these printed up, and have sold out of my
quota from Big Radio, so if you're interested in that, Not Lame & Kool Kat
have some. It'll be for sale as a seperate download from Big Radio in the
next few days, (unless demand from Not Lame and Kool Kat is so overwhelming
that i consider doing another small run!!) The proper album will available
from iTunes, Emusic, Rhapsody and the like in the next few weeks.
For those who'd like to try before you buy, 9 out of the 11 songs are now up
at www.myspace.com/michaelcarpenter. I did a video for the opening track
last year, and it's up at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uumi5Bk_HcA.
This is hopefully the first of a few projects i have planned for the next
12-18 months. Hopefully some of you will be interested and will like what
you hear.
Thanks, as always, for listening, and your support!
