Well, my experience was already different from those that commented.
As touted by Apple, I've found the current version to be much improved
dealing with my somewhat larger iTunes library (>40,000 songs and 213
Gb). It used to delay over every action sometimes for quite a long
time.
Folks indicated that it was taking a long time to rip CDs with the new
version, but I never had problems with 8.1, even with the first
released version. Thus, it may be a function of particular configs (I
use PCs with Windows XP operating systems on home, laptop, and office
computers). I prefer configurations where the system is located on a
different physical drive than my music library.
