I don't think there's enough exclamation points for me to use!!

turns out I was the ONLY one to take the bus from Glasgow to Darvel. a
whole stagecoach bus just for me. a stop on the way in Kilmarnock
where 5 others joined me. as a result, I was one of the first people
there. sadly, I have no idea what any of the boys really look like,
except I've seen photos, but without the benefit of drink....

anyway, I went in to use the bathroom and ended up meeting the mom of
one of the guys in Primary 5. Kyle's Mom, Linda had me sit with her. I
can't imagine from the looks of Kyle that she's any older than 40
something. I'm no good at judging age. hell I sometimes look 36 (my
age), sometimes look 26. but who knows, I didn't ask, but i did meet
Kyle before they played. I couldn't sort out where the boys of
Dropkick were and I was too nervous anyway. turns out, Linda works at
Borders here in Glasgow and knows a girl I used to work with in NJ,
who came over to work at the Borders here when it first opened. small
world, eh?

we sat front and center. there were tables set up, between the drink
and nervousness I was running to the bathroom a million times!

first band was Parish Music Box from london, I think. they were good
enough, but not my cuppa and definitely 'one of these bands is doing
their own thing' the singer was Morrisey like. don't get me wrong,
they were good, but just not my thing.

up next was Dropkick. at least I could see what they looked like so I
could track them down afterward. I had to keep an eye on the time as
well. the bus was to leave at 11:50pm after the show was over, and if
I didn't get it, I'd be stuck. 40 minutes out of glasgow. Dropkick
were incredible. I was dying of excitement, hardly believing I was
seeing them! I was trying not to jump around too much in my seat. I
can't remember what they played exactly, but I knew all the songs, of
course.

The Primary 5 were up next. Paul Quinn has himself quite a band of
five behind him. Including Linda's son, Kyle & the latest addition
Gordon Keen on lead guitar! and a special appearance by none other
than Duglas T. Stewart on one song! wow wow wow

while they were on, I spotted Roy from Dropkick just along the wall,
so I figured I had to at least go say hello to one of them. talked him
for awhile. he was standing next to Tim from Attic Lights, so Roy
introduced me. (probably as the insane american girl who was there to
see all of them) after a little while, I went back to the table since
Primary 5 were on, and I left all my stuff there.

I was still in shock that I was actually there seeing these bands I've
been listening to for so long. I needed to pinch myself! Primary 5
finished up their set and I spotted Roy with Andrew at the back of the
hall. So I talked with him for awhile. And then just before Attic
Lights started, I got say hello to Alastair finally. Unfortunately, I
didn't get to again. Attic Lights were starting and I wanted to move
up front. plus I think everyone wanted to sort out business of getting
drinks, etc before the set started. So I moved back up front. new
songs were incredible. the songs from the album were incredible. they
just sounded sooo good.

All 3 bands were absolutely amazingly brilliant!
at the end, they were called out for an encore. they did two songs
and started a dance party of sorts. they also did a cover of GBV's
"game of pricks" and I think I was the only one who gave a woo hoo at
the mere mention of it.

I only had about 25 minutes until the bus, but Linda offered to give
me a lift back to Glasgow. which was so nice of her. since I knew I'd
have to flutter about. little did I know that the bus would be waiting
for me. I spent 5 pounds for the return ticket, but oh well. it was
really sweet of them to wait, thinking I was missing it. I was
literally the only one on the bus from Glasgow. The bus made one stop
well south of Glasgow at Kilmarnock, where 5 people got on. I think
the bus should've been packed. I mean c'mon, three amazing scottish
indie pop/rock bands, hello people?! I feel bad that they were waiting
for me. although, I'm sure it worked out better for me. I got back to
my hotel 30 minutes earlier than I would've if I took the bus, and I
would've had to either walk from the bus station alone or find a taxi.
not sure how the city works after hours.

Kyle stopped over to talk with his mom and me afterward. he then took
me to meet Paul Quinn, where I talked a mile a minute (the beer
talking) and gave him my card for him to send me videos or whatever
he's got for me to play on the channel. I told him how I've been a
Teenage Fanclub for ages, and that I was going to see them on Sunday
in Belfast. Then I think someone else mentioned that Raymond had been
there tonight. holy moly I'm not sure it was true, but that would've
just put me over the top.

it then somehow got known that I was on Sesame Street for one season,
#29 to be exact...hard to believe it still gets the reaction it does
after 12 years! after that, I became the envy of the boys. Paul ran to
try and find Duglas but couldn't and then I think Linda was ready to
go on. We were waiting to talk to the singer/acoustic guitar player
from attic lights. he goes by Kev. Kyle grabbed him before he walked
away. I chatted with him a bit. Kyle brought up the Sesame Street gig
and next thing I know, Kev is bowing to me. Kyle then asks if there's
anyone else he needs to get for me. I told him that Colin in Atttic
Lights shares the same 2nd name as me. Colin walks out and gives me a
hug and calls me cousin. I then proceeded to get 3-4 more hugs from
him, including one for once again, my Sesame Street gig. hilarious.

I tried to find the Dropkick boys as I was scanning around, but I had
to get going since my now one and only way back to Glasgow was ready
to go!

wow wow wow wow...a million trillion exclamations!!

all three bands were amazingly awesomely brilliant and I'm so glad I
got to see them. I'm pretty sure the Dropkick boys will be there again
tomorrow night for Mark Olson & Gary Louris. I sure hope so, I'd
really like to get to talk with them more. and now that I know what
they look like in person, I hope I will.

I wish I had just set it up to stay down there instead of having to
come back here, but oh well. Darvel is very very small.
I don't think I'll get my photos up tonight. maybe just a teaser of
each. just looked at my videos too. I might have to allow the GBV
cover from attic lights go up online even though at parts you can hear
me singing badly. I forget to not sing sometimes, but the video and
audio turned out pretty good despite my off key singing.

I never did get to the merch table. although I think I have everything
except t-shirts from the bands.

If I could get these three bands to tour together, I'd be in heaven,
but I doubt it will happen. I wish you all had been there!

I think I'm in love with Glasgow.
