hmm, to paraphrase the old 97's: "every night I'm drunker than I was
the night before"

I had at least twice as much beer tonight. this time there were more
people on the bus from glasgow. a whole THREE more. turns out two of
them were two girls. one originally from Chicago, now living in
glasgow with her glaswegian husband. they adopted me at the venue. we
were right up front again, however, tonight I was on a mission to not
only make sure I met up to talk with Paul from Sunny Govan radio
again, but to talk with the Dropkick boys. turns out only Andrew and
Roy were there. but that was fine since I at least talked with them
for awhile and stood next to them as they towered over me. not that
it's hard since I'm all of 5'2. bummed I didn't get to speak with
Alastair again. and doubly so since I still have yet to get my
Dropkick tee. or one for Gary as well.

when we arrived at the venue, there was a line, I mean, que to get
inside. the chicago native is the one who walked up to me and asked me
to sit with them. I warned them that I'd be looking for friends. no
matter, we started rounds of drinks.

Hey Negrita were up first. they were A LOT of fun. I saw them at SXSW
in 2008, but had enough drink in me to not completely remember it.
Spencer from Deadstring Brothers was filling in either temporarily or
permanently on steel guitar. they were great.

Eileen Rose was up next. she was ok. kinda samey after a few songs.
but I wouldn't dare say that to Paul. he was after an interview with
her.

I apparently met Noel from Attic Lights last night and I don't
remember. he was there again tonight. I swear I wasn't that drunk last
night but he insisted that he met me. I think he may of just seen me
and heard I was the silly american girl who was in love with all the
Scottish indie pop/rock bands!

the endrick brothers were up next. by this time, I was well into pint
4, 5 or 6, I can't remember. I ended up dancing with Jane, one of the
girls I was sitting with. she wanted to be up and about and not
sitting at the table, so I joined her. I love the two Endrick Brothers
albums I have. So I knew all the words to all the songs.

unfortunately, I must've sounded like an idiot because afterward I
spoke with the singer and he was nice enough I guess but couldn't
really be bothered. hmm, what part of 'I have both your records, love
all your music and I'm here from the US' don't you get? I dunno, maybe
I was spoiled by the fine and sweet pop boys from the previous night.

mark olson & gary louris were amazing of course. do I have a set list?
no way! I just sang along and swayed while Roy from dropkick video
taped some songs on video. not of me of course. we called them back
out for an encore of "blue" where I was arm in arm with Steph right at
front. then it was a mad dash out of there for the bus. sigh.

quick goodbyes to the Dropkick boys and Paul from Radio Switchback on
Sunny Govan and a run to the bus. the girls made it too. we had a 20
minute wait at least in Kilmarnock so us 3 girls started talking with
this guy from Belfast. I can't for the life of me remember his name,
but it was decided that we're all meeting for breakfast in the
morning.

tonight was a great night, but last night was tops for me. I really
don't ask for much, and I can be such a fan girl, but I don't think a
bill with Attic Lights, Primary 5 and Dropkick can be topped. even if
you are from a band called the Jayhawks.

granted, I didn't get to say hello to Mark & Gary and I could've met
them. the festival organizer was going to make that happen, but alas,
the bus was waiting and I had no way back to Glasgow without it.

photos will be up some day. maybe not until I get back to the US. I
definitely didn't take as many tonight.

must sleep now. I can't believe I'm still drunk.
