You are correct - the drm will be gone - but you will pay a bit of a price
in sound quality for re-encoding.

For a fee - you can also upgrade to the higher bit rate drm-free versions
through the iTunes store.  I think the quality is noticeably better for some
kinds of music - gets rid of the occasional buzzy cymbal sound.
