Not really, no. Twenty years or so ago, when he was making
inconsistent albums with now-dated production, he probably was, but
each album since THE IMPOSSIBLE BIRD back in '94 has been greeted with
ever-louder plaudits, and Yep Roc's reissue of JESUS OF COOL last year
was covered all over the place. At this point, I would say that
anyone who doesn't rate Nick Lowe is never going to, so I wouldn't
call him underrated.
