Tom writes,

"They sited the popularity of Nikko Case's latest record as proof."

It sold a grand total of 44,000 copies last week. There are 300,000,000+ Americans. Does TIME know something that I don't know?

And commenting on some recent popular threads here:

- I agree that it's difficult for geezers to stay out late to see live shows. I organize annual power pop bills in New York City, the 2008 edition began at 7 p.m. and was over well before 11 p.m. I will soon be announcing the lineup of the next show on Saturday April 25th. Save the date!

- Talking at shows...About three years ago, Jon Auer played an acoustic set at the Mercury Lounge. The crowd for the next act started filtering in during his set, they were so busy talking that Jon pleaded with the crowd for silence. Then he started playing sarcastic songs to try to get the message across. Finally, he stopped mid-set, and invited us all to the private hallway in front of the dressing room, where he began to play unamplified to the true believers. That lasted two songs until the staff told him it was a fire hazard to block the exit hallway, so he returned to the main room to finish his set, most of the crowd oblivious to the music and destroying our enjoyment.

See ya,
Sherman
