What about American Idol?
Also, I don't know what airwaves there are to rule. Who listens to the
radio? And if you do, it's a different ballgame now vs. then, just like TV -
a thousand options, mostly skewed to a restrictive format. You'd get a
better sampling on some well-rounded person's podcast, but webzines, MySpace
and Facebook sites have the same problem - there are millions of them and no
focus.
And how popular is Neko Case's album that the industry is ready to proclaim
a movement? I realize 44 thousand albums is more than most groups debut with
these days, but let's get real.
