The guy, whose name escapes me, who wrote the old "Funky Winkerbean" strip
in the newspapers, was from Wisconsin and in the late 1980s use to have some
of the characters occasionally in BoDeans t-shirts.

The article's author, Mike Baron, co-created and wrote one of the best comic
book series of the last 25 years ("Nexus") and he would occasionally work in
references to then-current bands (the BoDeans, for instance) even though the
series was set in the future.

He also wrote an interesting series blending sci-fi and rock'n'roll ("Sonic
Distruptors") that was cancelled before it ended, unfortunately.
