Since a number of people have made other recommendations in this genre,
let me add Lucky Soul to the mix. They're a little more to the pure pop
side (as opposed to the R&B/soul side) of the spectrum, and they've been
one of my top eMusic finds of the past couple of years.

She may not be much of a live performer, and the "retro" look seem too contrived to me, but the album is solid, tuneful, wistful, and most of all - catchy. Doesn't hurt that she's cute, which unfortunately is one of the factors that has soured me to Amy Winehouse. Much like Ryan Adams, I have trouble separating the music from the artists. I enjoy Winehouse & Adams, but I can't help thinking what a skank and a chooch they are when I listen to them - I just feel dirty afterwards.

I just checked on iTunes and the song is only 3:17...I was positive it was over 5 minutes. The song goes nowhere and then repeats where it should have ended. Maybe I had the wrong introduction to her or maybe the song should have been 1:59, but I don't see how she is even close to Duffy or Winehouse.
