I wonder if when Paul McCartney said he couldn't read music (wasn't he among
the famous rock and rollers who have said that) he meant what you speculate,
or if he really meant he couldn't read it at all. I do believe that he sort
of "dictated" his classical pieces to others.

Never had the pleasure of meeting Todd, but did get to interview him a few
years back. The man is a fan of *Space Ghost*, *Fear of a Black Planet*, and
