Subject cd storage recommendation

I knew this day would come.

A few years ago, it became necessary for me to put my large vinyl collection in storage (my father-in-law's basement).  Just didn't have room in our small NYC apartment with a new baby and all.

And now, I need to find a better way to store my 2000 or so cds.  The jewel boxes simply take up too much shelf space, and the bookcase in which they sit is a safety hazard.

So I'd like to move the cds into "books," or something similar.

Any recommendations?  I want to save the not just the front insert but the back insert as well, if possible.

Thanks in advance for any tips/recommendations.
