Wikipedia (and other sources) say Tommy was the Dodger's 3rd base coach
for almost 4 years from 1973 until Walter Alston retired in September
1976 (when Tommy replaced him)...below is what the New York Times had to
say about the incident....

On the other hand, it has been done -- sort of. In the 1970's Tommy
Lasorda, then a Dodger third-base coach, was miked during several games
and kept it fairly clean. During one conversation with Pete Rose, then
the Reds' third baseman, Lasorda said, "Pete, our team just voted on
who's the best-looking guy on your team."

"How'd I do?" Rose asked.

"You finished second," Lasorda said.

"Who's first?" Rose asked.

"The other 24 tied," Lasorda said.

Hey, I'm just getting back to Audities to see the baseball issue I

created with my story. Gulp, yep Rose must have "played" third. That

probably is the case. Sorry for the confused part of the memory of

the story. Duh, I guess getting that Lassorda wouldn't be coaching

Rose is a pretty goofy mix up on my part. It does make more sense

that Tommy would be trying to break Rose's concentration while Rose

was playing third. But, hey thanks to those that tried to help bail

my story out. A memory was triggered and I typed quickly and simply

pull it out of my head with some sort of static brain cling.
