Many bands suffered serious repercussions from thing slike this - Fleetwood
Mac, The Temptations, for two - where a former band member ran out with the
name either because they were being unscrupulous or because no one really
straightened out who had the *right* to use the name. Thanks to the Internet
word spreads faster nowadays - I got to see Hermanless Hermits (who were
like a saucy Vegas act by then) and a watery version of Badfinger, among
others. Nowadays there are still limping versions of *many* classic bands
out there (Humble Pie, Foghat, Foreigner, etc.) but the difference is that
they are usually officially recognized as the surviving ectoplasm of the
group.
Of course, any band that is in the least bit theatrical can pump out several
versions of itself and call it a "road show"...a very famous Christmastime
orchestral rock band does this today.
And I not only remember Starcastle, I have an album...or two.
